the polar ice spreads over much of the arctic (north pole) &
southern oceans (antarctica). many animals spend their lives
under the ice!
ice fish live in the deep, cold waters around antarctica, where they
feed on krill & plankton. the grow slowly & live for up to 20 years
they are caught to be eaten but sadly, too many have been
taken from the ocean & they are now rare
arctic jellyfish has long tentacles which can extend
for up to 6 meters. scientists exploring under the ice have
discovered new forms of marine life, including arctic jellyfish.
these large jellyfish feed on plankton & small fish
arctic cod like ice water & are not often seen in warmer water.
they grow to 30 cm long & are the favorite food of narwhals
& other arctic whales
arctic narwhals
cute snowy color... arctic whales
the sea butterfly is a type of mollusc without a shell
it has 2 flops or wings attached to its body, which it uses to move
through the water. it feeds on copepods & plankton
ice fish have special chemical in their blood to stop water
from freezing in their body. it's so called because it looks
as though it's made of ice
narwhals... so scary creatures
skillful arctic whales.. O.. O..

human beings have lived in the arctic (north pole) from numerous
generations & others such as scientists, have move there to work
the only people who live in the antarctic (south pole) are scientists!
hunters spend many weeks on the arctic ice hunting for food
they build a domed shelter, called an igloo, from blocks of ice
it is warm inside the igloo as the ice traps body heat
many scientists are based in the arctic & antarctic, studying the animals
& the polar environment. weddell seal would be caught & tagged so that
they can track its movement
in the past, native people such as the inuit relied on the sea for food
& on animals skins to make clothes. they cut up & dried fish so it
could be eaten all winter, when the sea was frozen & impossible
to fish..
the polar waters are full of fish. throughout the summer months,
when the ice melts, numerous fishing boats sail into the region.
shellfish such as crabs & prawns, squid & fish will be on target!
about 4,000 scientists live in the antarctic during the summer
but fewer than 1,000 spend the long, cold winter...

The first one is connected to reason, a path of clarification through which religion clarifies to people the road their lives take and where they will return. The second fundamental is the creation of a motive within people to encourage them to act in conformity with the insight their intellect provides them with. Intellect addresses the heart, the soul and the ego which illustrate the motive for action and progress.
